This feelings wheel can be used in multiple ways:

- At the start of a therapy session to help someone identify and communicate their dominant feelings

- In schools as a way of checking in in the morning with a child

- To develop emotional literacy by giving people a language to describe how they feel. The therapist/mentor/teacher might give examples of how they are feeling or might feel in certain situations to model unfamiliar emotion terms.

- In groups to discuss

- Using social situation examples to reflect on how others may feel to develop empathy but also an emotional language

The overarching feeling may be located first and then the options around that could be chosen to elaborate on the feeling. But ultimately, it can be used in any way that is useful.
