Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidenced based way of reducing debilitating trauma symptoms. When a therapist trained in CBT meets with someone to understand their trauma and it’s impact, they might create what is called a formulation together. This is a shared understanding of the difficulty. Therapists trained in CBT will have an understanding of what might maintain persistent post trauma symptoms.
Mapping this maintenance cycle out on your own or in therapy sessions, can create the foundation for change.
